Nation-state iOS exploits now widely proliferating
The Coruna and DarkSword iOS exploit chains have moved beyond nation-state use. According to reporting from Dark Reading, these sophisticated iPhone attack tools are now proliferating to organised cybercrime groups globally.
This is a meaningful escalation. Exploit chains of this calibre were previously constrained by cost, access, and the operational security requirements of state-level actors. Organised criminal groups operating with these capabilities changes the risk profile for any organisation where iPhones touch sensitive data, authentication, or internal systems.
The practical takeaway is straightforward: mobile device security posture can no longer be treated as a secondary consideration relative to endpoint or network controls. If your security assessments don't include review of mobile device management configuration, app permissions, and update compliance, there's a gap worth closing.
