Advanced Security For Advanced Threats
Global Day of Unplugging is to encourage you to disconnect from technology for a period of time to raise awareness about the adverse effects of excessive digital consumption.
Here are some cybersecurity activities you can do away from your screens👇
1. Conduct a physical security assessment of your home or workplace. Check for vulnerabilities such as unsecured entry points, weak locks, or inadequate lighting and take steps to address them.
2. Organise a social engineering simulation exercise with friends, family, or colleagues. Practice scenarios where individuals attempt to manipulate others into revealing sensitive information or performing unauthorised actions, and discuss strategies for recognising and resisting social engineering tactics.
3. Review your physical documents, including passports, birth certificates, financial statements and other sensitive materials. Ensure they are stored securely in locked cabinets or safes and consider implementing a document shredding policy for disposing of sensitive information.
4. Host a cyber hygiene workshop for friends, family, or coworkers. Discuss best practices for online safety, such as creating strong passwords, recognising phishing emails and securing social media accounts. Provide practical tips for protecting personal information and avoiding common cyber threats.
5. Develop an emergency response plan for cybersecurity incidents. Gather stakeholders and brainstorm potential scenarios, outlining steps to be taken in the event of a data breach, ransomware attack, or other cybersecurity emergency.
Assign roles and responsibilities, establish communication protocols, and identify resources for incident response and recovery.
